In short

Events in VeyroBot are set up from the Events tab of the panel; there is no slash command for this. A single save does two things: Discord's native event opens in the server's Events tab, and a card with Going, Maybe, and Not Going buttons goes to the channel you choose. At your chosen time before the event, a reminder drops into the channel and members who said they will attend are tagged.

This article explains the setup. If you haven't decided what event to host yet, check out the Discord server event ideas article first.

Channel permission, Manage Events and the date limit

  • The bot must be able to write to the card channel. The bot needs view channel, send messages, and embed links permissions in the channel. If the card cannot be sent, the event is not created at all and the panel shows an error.
  • The "Manage Events" permission is required for the Discord event. If this permission is missing, the panel will warn you. The card will still be sent, but no listing will be opened in the server's Events tab.
  • The Events module must be enabled. If the Module status toggle at the top of the tab is off, the buttons will not accept RSVPs and reminders will not be sent.
  • The date must be in the future. The start time must be at some point in the future. Events can be scheduled up to 30 days in advance.

If a permission issue arises, you can find the troubleshooting sequence in the Discord bot permission errors article.

Step 1: Create the event in the panel

In the Panel → your server → Events → New Event form:

  1. Type a Title (maximum 100 characters). Add a Description if you wish (maximum 1000 characters).
  2. Select the Card Channel. The card and reminder will go to this channel.
  3. Enter the Date, Time, and Time Zone. The time zone defaults to the value in Server Settings initially.
  4. Select the Duration: 30 minutes, 1 hour, 90 minutes, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, or 24 hours. The default is 2 hours.
  5. Select the Reminder: 10, 15, or 30 minutes; 1, 2, 6, or 24 hours before. If you don't want one, select Do not send reminder. The default is 1 hour before.
  6. Specify the location: select a Voice Channel or type in the Location field if there is no voice channel (maximum 100 characters).
  7. Check the title, date, time zone, and channel in the Summary line and press Create Event.

What appears on the card and in Discord?

Discord eventCreated in the server's Events tab, open to server members only. It appears in the voice channel if you selected one, or at the place you typed if you didn't; if location is empty, it says "Discord". If the Discord event cannot be opened, the card works on its own.
Event cardTitle, description, When and Where fields, with three buttons underneath. The time is written with Discord's timestamp; every member sees it in their own local time.
RSVP columnsThe number of people next to the Going, Maybe, and Not Going headings. In each column, the first 15 people are listed by name, and the rest as "… and N more". The card does not send any notifications to anyone.
Panel listThe event status, channel, time, and ✅ 🤔 ❌ counts. The panel lists up to 50 events.

Step 2: Track attendance

When a member clicks a button, their RSVP is recorded and a confirmation message appears that only they can see. If they click the same button again, their RSVP is removed; if they click another button, their response changes. The card collects clicks and updates within a few seconds.

This list is kept in VeyroBot. The "Interested" mark in Discord's Events tab works separately and is not added to the counts on the card. Tell members in your announcement to use the card, because reminders only tag those who said Going on the card.

Step 3: Reminder and event day

  • Reminder goes to the card channel at the duration you selected before the start. It contains the event name, start time, and a link to the card. Members who said Going are tagged; notifications go to a maximum of 50 people. Members who said Maybe are not tagged. If no one has signed up, a note stating this is written. Direct messages (DMs) are not sent.
  • At the start, the card changes to a "Happening now" header. The buttons stay open, and latecomers can still report their status.
  • At the end, the card becomes "Event completed" and the buttons close.

The reminder goes out once. If it cannot be sent, for example if the bot cannot write to the channel, it is retried every minute until the event starts.

Canceling and deleting

CancelThe card becomes "Event canceled" and the buttons close. The Discord event, if not yet started, is removed. The RSVP list is preserved; you can continue to see who signed up.
DeleteThe record and RSVP list are deleted; the card in the channel and the Discord event are also removed. If anything cannot be removed due to insufficient bot permissions, the panel will tell you, and you can delete that piece manually.

There is no option to edit a created event. To change the date or time, cancel the event and create a new one; members will see the cancellation on the old card.

If the time looks wrong or the reminder went out early

  • Ignoring the time zone. The time is interpreted according to the time zone in the form. Since everyone sees their own local time on the card, entering the wrong time makes it look wrong to everyone. Check the Summary line before creating.
  • Expecting a recurring event. Only one-time events can be created. For a weekly game night, create a separate event every week; you can set up several weeks in advance within the 30-day limit.
  • Setting the reminder too close to the event. If you set it up 20 minutes before the event and select a reminder 1 hour before, the reminder will go out within a minute. Choose a shorter reminder for events set up on short notice.
  • Trusting the "Interested" count. That mark does not enter VeyroBot's list and is not tagged in the reminder. Collect RSVPs via the card.

Is it right for recurring events?

Suitable: Servers that want to see in advance how many people will come to an event with a specific date, such as a game night, tournament, chat hour, or community meeting.

Not suitable: Those who want an announcement that repeats automatically every day or every week. For messages sent at regular intervals, scheduled messages are a more accurate tool.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create an event with a Discord command?

No. Events are created, canceled, and deleted solely from the web panel.

Do members see the event time in their own time zone?

Yes. The card and reminder use Discord's timestamp; every member sees the time in their device's local time and relatively, such as "in 2 hours".

What happens if the bot doesn't have the "Manage Events" permission?

No listing is opened in the server's Events tab. The card, buttons, and reminder work normally.

Does the reminder come as a DM?

No. The reminder only goes to the card channel and tags those who said Going.

What happens if a finished event's card is clicked?

The buttons of a finished or canceled event close. If clicked before the card updates, no RSVP is recorded and the member is told that the event is no longer accepting sign-ups.

For a general introduction to the feature, you can check the Discord event bot page, and for all settings, the events documentation. Since events are managed exclusively from the panel, this feature does not have a command card.
